We had a community garage sale with about ten houses on our block and Chris thought it would be the perfect time to teach the boys about working hard and earning some money. He drew up a cute little picture for them and then they got to work with a bunch of scrap wood laying around the garage.
They helped with everything including painting it a bright coat of yellow.
I made the paint chip banner to spice up the front and for two days they served lemonade to all the garage sale attendees and many family and friends who also popped by for a glass.
The boys set a goal to earn enough money for our second annual trip to the fair. We plan to go on Chris' birthday in a few weeks. They were hoping to get the "dizzy passes" so they can go on endless rides all day long and I am proud to say that they earned enough for all of us!
I am thinking the lemonade stand will become a tradition too - a great way to earn money for something so fun!
I don't remember doing any lemonade stands as a kid so I will admit that this was a pretty fun thing to do with my little ones!
What about you did you and your kids sell lemonade too this summer? And what's the going rate anyway - was fifty cents kind of steep? :)

ReplyDeleteHow adorable! When I was a kid I loved doing lemonade stands but I never had anything remotely as cute as that stand. The banner is definitely a girls touch! ;)
ReplyDeletePrice depends on how you made the lemonade....25 cents for kool-aid, 50 cents for from concentrate or some other "real" lemon type, and we charge $1 for fresh squeezed. (actually we'd probably charge $1.50 for a big cup like yours)

Oh what an absolutely beautiful little lemonade stand!! I have incredibly fond memories of lots and lots of lemonade stands when I was a child. My favorite memory involves my sister and I running out of plastic cups when a car of teenage boys drove up. We loaned them the sterling silver baby cup that was given to our family years before as a baby gift (apparently Mom wasn't around to monitor us at the time) and let them drive around the block to drink the juice. And they kindly returned it! :)
