Zeb's first trip to the pumpkin patch
Trip to the Fair :: 2012
We have gone each September for the past three to celebrate Chris' birthday together as a family. There are a few things the boys talk about all year long and this is one of them for sure. It was Josie and Zeb's first trip and my first not pregnant :)...one of my favorite moments from the day was seeing Simon squeal with delight when he found out that he had grown enough over the past twelve months to go on a BIG roller coaster with Dad!
We ate yummy fair food, saw some animals, ran into old friends and the big boys did all the rides they could handle in a day! I did a lot of stroller patrol and the feedings and changings...but I wouldn't have missed the excitement for the world!
It is such a gift to be able to create these fun traditions as a family and I am looking forward to the years and years of trips to the fair in our future!
Weekend Adventures :: Blueberry Picking and the Wickham Farm
This past weekend our friends invited us out to the country for a day in the hot sunshine to pick some blueberries, cool off in the pool, eat yummy food and relax and take in the beauty of the summer and their beautiful piece of property! It was so worth the long drive to spend time with our sweet friends...we left feeling very full, blessed and loaded down with seventy pounds of Washington blueberries to last us until next summers berry picking adventure!
Thank you Wickhams we had so much fun!!
blogging break brought to you by:
ha ha! Not really but raise of hands who else is totally hooked? Thanks to my Mom in law and like every single person I know on the interwebs I finally caved in to see what all the fuss was about. I am only four episodes in but am officially engrossed in season one of Downton Abbey...love it!
This week has been exhausting - um duh I keep forgetting I am nearing the end of my fourth pregnancy. We had one night this week where Chris and I were up ALL.NIGHT with a four year old who had not only his first case of the croup (so weird) but also the stomach flu? It was brutal and when he finally fell asleep at five in the morning and the bathroom was finished being disinfected we passed out until six thirty when all three of my kids got up for the day, ugh.
Mild terror has been replaced by extreme fear and gnashing of teeth about how we will manage another baby in less than two short months. I know the Lord will sustain us but lets just say God and I had words that night about how I really feel about this whole workload when I am tired.
In other news I am gearing up for my first solo Mommy trip in years this weekend to visit the insanely talented and gorgeous Stacy Bostrom. Our time will for sure include lots of wonderful deep conversation, coffee and yummy treats, her adorable little boy and his scooter, a maternity photo shoot (squeal), me trying to glean as much photography knowledge as I possible can...little known fact this woman taught herself how to handle a camera within the past few years, no school, no training at all she is incredible I really can't wait!
Hoping to blog while I am away but either way you know I will be back soon...happy Friday everyone!
the time we decided to paint our room
Ha, that sounds so innocent doesn't it...and it really was.
On Friday afternoon Chris and I decided that it would be a great weekend to get to work on finally painting our room. After all nesting is kickin into high gear over here and my back is only gonna hold out for so long.
We cleared out our room, took down the bed and put out the drop cloth before Chris got to work on cutting in the edges. I went out for a lovely little dinner date with my bestie and after getting home late we ended up deciding to camp out (Chris on the couch and me in Simon's bed) since our bed wasn't set up and we wanted to continue working on Saturday.
Hahahaha...oh my gosh. So of course we both end up with little sleep Simon kept waking me up all night he didn't really understand why he was in bed with Levi when he could snuggle Mom in his bed. Apparently Chris was up sick all night too but I didn't know. By the morning we were both feeling pretty ill. And I told Chris I needed to lay down for a little longer. When I woke up Chris was about three shades of green, he had finished the first coat of paint but I could tell that was about all he could handle.
He started puking...
I kicked it into high pregnant hormone driven Mommy gear. My kids were stuck in front of the TV and I was frantically painting because I knew I had to get our bed back in place - poor Chris was so ill he was curled up downstairs sick as a dog. I ran to the drug store for Gatorade and saltines and such and then flew home and frantically painted. Josie was screaming from her crib and the boys were zoning out while Chris was so sick...
Thinking about it now it was actually fairly comical - and thankfully a little voice inside told me to call for help. I hate calling for help but I did it and praise Jesus my Mom and Dad in law came to our aid Saturday evening. (Thank you Steve and Paula so much!) Phew. By Sunday morning the bathrooms had been deep cleaned, sheets all sanitized, the room painted and the kids were with grandma and grandpa and when I opened my eyes I saw the prettiest shade of aqua welcoming me to a brand new day!
It's always something isn't it...but hey at least I can tick painting our room off the list. Now onto painting the bathroom and a few dozen other things before this fourth baby makes his/her debut in only THREE months!! I will give you a tour when I finish decorating our newly painted room I promise!
Happy Monday - so how was your weekend? :)
the farm
On Josie's first birthday this past weekend we headed to The Farm. It's a really fun place to visit in the fall if you live anywhere near the Seattle area!
Josie's little friend Juliette who was born on the same day, two doors down was having her birthday party. We ended up making a connection with her family after we realized that Simon was in the same class as Juliette's big sister Savvy (this little friend). We have had fun getting to know them a bit this past year and were honored to be there with them to celebrate. We had a blast enjoying the pumpkin patch, corn and hay mazes, tractor ride, cow train, petting zoo and apple picking. It really was an amazing afternoon!
So have you been to the pumpkin patch yet? It's definitely one of my favorite things about fall!
