Ten on Ten :: July 2012

Today was one of my hardest so far with four little ones. It was full of crying and baby barf (what is it with me and babies who barf a lot?) and a little girl who was found with the contents of her diaper smeared all over her crib, face and everything else in between. I really earned the late night shower I finally got this evening...and that extra diet coke with lime and a cherry.

I am happy to report though that capturing this day with my lens was a wonderful exercise in digging for those special little moments that make life so beautiful. The ones that fill me to my core even when I am weary and smell like that baby spit up (Mr. Gough told me I smelled...in a nice way :)) and the essence of why I love this project so very much.

These ten hours that I documented during this warm July day in 2012 will forever remind me of what our life feels like right now and truly how lucky I am to be alive! It is all a gift even the smelly parts and I am so looking forward to seeing what your day held too.

Thank you all who captured this day along with me it is such a gift to share our lives together in this way each month...see you again in August!

all the other sets for the month can be found HERE and if you haven't had a chance to link up it will be open for the rest of the week. Find out more about the Ten on Ten project HERE.

  1. Hi Rebekah,

I just wanted to introduce myself. Maxine from maxipix. I was lucky enough to log on just as you opened the July link and secured the excitement of being the first to link this month. Being in Australia I have the edge as our day is done before you really have started. I have linked up about 5 times and I just wanted to say how much I simply love the concept of 10 on 10. I do look forward to the tenth of each month for this very reason. I love documenting in photographs and this is such a fun and detailed way of seeing life as it is, in your case barf and all. Take care and see you again in August.

  5. Are those homemade peanut butter cups? They look so, so, so good. It reminds me of that summer that the kitchen was being remodeled and it was the first thing you made in the new microwave after we had spent the summer washing the dishes in the bathtub. :) And, the diet coke with limes and cherries...yum! I am sorry that you had such a rough day!!! Miss you so much and hope that today brings you a few minutes to just relax and enjoy. Love you!!

  7. We had a rough day here, too! The camera definitely helped, though I think my set is gloomier than yours. I laughed out loud at the Sanitary light!!

Just a thought about the spit-up I wanted to share. I've heard that Hazelwood necklaces can be helpful. I had a "happy spitter" but I didn't learn about this until after he was over the phase. Not sure if it works, but it might be worth looking into :)

  8. It really does help to document the little "good" things, huh? :) I was in a work meeting all day and was desperately wishing I could get outside and snap some shots. There must be a bug going around because Sky threw up ALL OVER the kitchen the other night....it was sooooo gross.

Thanks again for creating this project and giving me something to look forward to each month.

  13. Rebekah, I just love what you wrote. This has been a hard season for us in some ways (not catastrophic, just a rough spell) and yet I have felt caught off guard by the peace and huge joy I have felt in the day to day work of being the solo parent to our 3 kids with one on the way for so many weeks. I am not a morning person and we have some major early risers, I am physically so exhausted in my 3rd trimester, there is chaos and calamity every single day, but so much happiness and love and goodness my heart could burst. Your pictures and words are a reminder to me to grab hold and relish all of it, even the stinky stuff:) (i.e. I found a diarrhea form of possum poop in a box of toys I was unpacking today). Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit, I so look forward to my bit of sunshine e-mail links every time they come! Blessing dear one!
