candy canes winner!

This month's Ten on Ten theme was Candy Canes and I am super excited to announce the winner, Gwen from Rosofam! I loved the entire set of ten photos but this one of the old school candy cane reindeer just made me smile big! Congratulations Gwen and thank you for always inspiring me with your eye for life and beauty - your family is so darling I love to see what you guys are up to via your blog!

Thanks to everyone who played along the past few months with these prompt contests…I am not entirely sure what is in store for Ten on Ten in the coming year but I sure have loved searching for beauty with all of you these past six!

highlights for the month included :: the end of the school year and a birthday for Simon, lots of giggles, an attempt at a fathers day hike with a dramatic ending, pizza on the grill, some beautiful sunshine, basil from the garden for homemade sauce, more smiles, donuts, coffee on the deck with bare toes, a spin art afternoon and extra limes in my coke after a very exciting early morning of poopy diapers all over the floor and a bag of candy...it was all just to exciting to forget :)

We spent an amazing day on Martha's Vineyard finishing up our tenth anniversary trip and it ended up being the perfect way to spend Ten on Ten! This entire vacation has been the biggest gift and I can't wait to get home and look through the hundreds of photos I have logged from our entire week away! on holiday + a ten on ten reminder

This past week Chris and I snuck away to the east coast to celebrate our tenth anniversary. This is our first trip together since before Simon was born almost seven years ago so I am sure you can image how surreal and amazing it has been to soak it all in! I will have plenty of proper photos to share when we get home in a few days but here are a few instagrams from our adventures...and I will be here in Cape Cod for tomorrows installment of Ten on Ten as well and I am so looking forward to it! Ten on Ten :: March 2013

Another month documented and a daylight savings day too, I think a first! - lots of little things going on here and there around our home today and a chance to get out alone for a bit too and breath in some time to myself. It's always fun to see what the tenth holds it's become such a habit that no matter how ordinary the day is my senses are more aware of the little moments on the tenth and I felt happy today which was a gift.

Sigma sent me a loaner lens to use for today's installment. The 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC - I had never used a Sigma before and must say that it proved to be an incredible all purpose zoom lens in a nice compact size! I wasn't expecting the macro feature to be so great but it zooms in super close and sharp and was equally great for quick full frame shots too and I was also impressed with it in the lower pacific northwest light that we are so famous for...(ie. grey and cloudy :)). All in all I thought for the money if you are looking for a solid all around lens this one is a great option!

I am looking forward to taking a peek at all of the incredible sets this month, some new fun friends joining in as well as all of you faithful contributors - such a gift this project is to my heart! I hope you guys have a wonderful week and until next month, happy photographing!

a sunny saturday + a ten on ten reminder

Happy Saturday my friends - and a huuuuuge thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the love and support on my previous post. I was blown away and moved by the sharing of hearts and your own stories of trials and seasons of quiet. Community is an amazing thing and I am so often overwhelmed by the true community I find here. Seriously you guys are the best!

And look it's the weekend we made it, and it happens to be sunny here in Seattle which is a rare and glorious sight! Although we are still laying a bit low I have several things I am hoping to get my hands dirty with. I printed a ton of fun mini instagram photos recently and hope to find a way to display them. I have a few things I would like to spray paint if the weather continues to cooperate! I have a date with some delicious pretzels c/o the amazing Auntie Anne's from our youth. They sent us the sweetest package to host a pretzel party to celebrate their 25th birthday but since we have all been sick we had to postpone getting our pretzel on. Hoping to find time for that soon but if you are anywhere near an Auntie Anne's location today make sure to stop by for Sampling Saturday to sample one of their new honey whole grain pretzels and take home some fun prizes and goodies while you're at it.

And of course I am getting my camera ready for tomorrows installment of Ten on Ten, aka hidden beauty finding day. It's like our monthly treasure hunt to capture all that glorious blessing in the little things laid out all around for us to find. Don't forget to charge your batteries and also set your clocks ahead for daylight savings (boo) it's going to be a party!

Hope this day finds you pockets of joy and triumph you all are certainly huge blessings to me!
