a visit from the fairy

simon lost his first tooth (age 6)

this happened last week..

can you see it?

his tooth pillow

I thought I would have more warning but we dropped him off at sunday school and when we picked him up it was loose. By dinner time he was getting annoyed with it so he asked Dad to yank it out...

with a pocket for the fairy

I quickly threw together a tooth fairy pillow. I had always imagined making one for my kids but like I said I did not plan on having only a few hours to come up with something. Isn't that just how these stages with kids go. One moment you are changing diapers and the next the tooth fairy is on her way...he was very sentimental about the whole thing leaving his tooth knowing it was gone forever. She left a five though, since the fairy always brings the biggest gift for the first tooth :) and some dental floss. I think he forgot about it pretty fast.

I wish I could bottle up time and tuck in MY pocket.

I thought I would share the pattern I used for the pillow just in case the tooth fairy rushes you too...

...next up first grade. hold me.

We returned home last night from a super fun extended family vacation. I am in the process of doing lots of laundry, uploading hundreds of photos and getting resettled as we prepare for school to start next week...it is so bittersweet to say goodbye to summer but I am so excited for the fall too.

I will be back soon with some photos from our trip but I just wanted to pop in and say hello, hope you are having a great week so far!

Kristen :: 40 weeks

Last month, just days before my sister in law gave birth to her third son at home, I had the honor and joy of spending an overcast afternoon with her at the park. Along with my darling nephews capturing her ripe with baby and full of such gorgeous anticipation!

It was a gift to have that chance to be together with my dear friend and sister sharing our hearts about this season of life, rejoicing in all that God has done and is doing in our families and celebrating one of the most blessed times in a women's life.

I love you Kristen and the crazy beautiful journey God has us on together thanks for letting me snap a few shots of your beautiful self! xo, Rebekah

make something monday :: quirky succulent gardens

At my Sisters wedding last month she used tons of succulents in her incredibly gorgeous decor. I loved all of the vintage cigar boxes and rustic linens she had lining the tables! I came home with a dozen or so left over tiny plants and they have been sitting on my table waiting for me to do something with them. I decided to put a few into some of my favorite vintage Pyrex dishes with colored gravel for a quirky twist. They were super easy but thought I would share my process with you today!

Supplies:

vintage dishes
assorted succulents
potting soil
gravel - (I used left over fish tank gravel in pink and turquoise)

First find the best grouping for each dish, I think they look best pretty full.

Next remove each plant and add some potting soil. I gave each pot a good bit of water since they were pretty dry and it was a hot day and then let them air out a bit in the sun.

Next I carefully added the gravel to each dish covering up the potting soil. I could totally see these in a bright white pot with bright white rocks as well for a much more modern look.

And that was that. Simple, quirky and free since I had everything laying around the house.

I've been keeping the succulents fresh with a water bottle every few days. I have learned the hard way how easy it is to over water these sweet little guys. Although I admit I am not the best with plants so if you have any further succulent tips for me leave them in the comment section I would love it!

Hope you have a wonderful day today...

PS. I am over at beautifully rooted this morning too with a new post on hospitality.

Happy Monday!

over the weekend

I made a huge batch of homemade applesauce and it made the house smell like early fall

I purchase some vintage items for Josie's Halloween costume...she and Levi have October birthdays so we always make a big deal about dressing up for their party

I spent a long time discussing and dreaming about the future with Mr. Gough

I tried popcorn drizzled with coconut oil and sea salt per Joey's recommendation... so yum

I worked on some earrings for my best friends wedding

I watched Mary Poppins with the kids for the first time and they loved it - such a classic

I looked through many of your amazing ten on ten sets from the month - so much beautiful life captured

I ignored the laundry pile dribbling out of the laundry room

I mostly just enjoyed a lazy summer weekend, one of the last before the fall gets into full swing

you know just a little of this and that...so, what did you do over the weekend?

Weekend Adventures :: Blueberry Picking and the Wickham Farm

This past weekend our friends invited us out to the country for a day in the hot sunshine to pick some blueberries,  cool off in the pool, eat yummy food and relax and take in the beauty of the summer and their beautiful piece of property! It was so worth the long drive to spend time with our sweet friends...we left feeling very full, blessed and loaded down with seventy pounds of Washington blueberries to last us until next summers berry picking adventure!

Thank you Wickhams we had so much fun!!
